WestCONnex Stage 3 Design Illegible, Deceptive – latest from NoW:PT

Last Friday (12 May) Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC) released the Concept Design for Stage 3 of WestConnex. You can find it here, and enter your specific queries and objections on WCX’s ‘collaborative map’.

An alliance of 11 community groups opposed to WestCONnex slammed the document and demanded it be immediately recalled, describing it as unclear, with illegible street diagrams and deliberately designed to keep the community in the dark about the Berejiklian Government’s plans. You can read our letter to Stuart Ayres (Minister for WestCONnex) here.

In the week since, SMC have released a 60 page “printable version” which comes in at 160 megabytes. For reference the entire 828 pages of the 2017-18 Australian Federal Budget is just 7.4 megabytes to download. If you manage to download the Concept Design documents you’ll need a high resolution colour printer and A3 paper if you want to be able to read it. We tried printing it and this is what came out.

What. A. Sham.

If you want to express your disgust with this process you can contact SMC here: info@westconnex.com.au

You can also contact Stuart Ayres’ office to make a complaint here: penrith@parliament.nsw.gov.au
